The Wharfedale Diamond 12.4 speakers comes at the top of the company's highly regarded Diamond series. It Known for hi-fi sound at reasonable cost, the Diamond series persistently offers build and sound quality that seems at odds with its affordability. But as seen and heard enough these speakers are a smart pick. The 12.4s are great for someone looking to fill up a large room with sound or for anyone who wants their music to be enfold but who still wants sound that's smooth and balanced.
The Diamond 12.4 speakers are a complete redefined from the earlier generation. Each 6-1/2" Klarity™ midrange and bass woofer is a mica-infused polypropylene cone. 12.4 floor-standing models are 2.5-way speakers where both drivers contribute to the bass output, but only the one nearest the tweeter operates in the midrange.
Connection at Ease
Diamond series models presents two sets of high quality 5-way binding post terminals for optional bi-wire connection. Theese terminals are angled in such position, allowing easier access and done carefully wire management.Due to this perfect connection system, there is no distortion and problem faced by user.
Resonance Control Cabinet
Diamond 12.4 cabinet walls convey a multi-layered sandwich engineering to suppress resonance. Inside the cabinet, skilled Spot Bracing connects otherside of walls with a wood brace to further reduce panel flexing and vibration. These braces are perfectly modeled by computer simulation to improve upon the commonplace ‘figure of eight’ brace, which may transfer resonance from one wall to another
Magnetic Force
A precision-made magnet system with an aluminium compensation ring to minimise the effect of variations in inductance as the voice coil in the 12.4 Diamond.This contributes to an absence of distortion and intermodulation generated by the ‘motor system’.Due to this , the clarity of the sound is ultimate and out of the box. there is no noise coming from the system.
Firm and fair
The WHARFEDALE 12.4 front-ported enclosure is exactly designed so that the inside volume works in tunefulness with the drive unit system to deliver the desired sonic result. A multi-layered sandwich design overpower the identifiable characteristics of the cabinet’s ‘sound’. Even the resonant properties of the glue between the layers was measured to examine the exact combination.
A voice coil beyond class
In the wharfedale diamond 12.4 voice coil is wrapped in a high strength epoxy/fiberglass coil which is very unusual in speakers in this price range. It has the advantage of providing more disposable power than an aluminum bobbin without adding eddy current, and is also much stronger than the associated Kapton type in this price range.
DIAMOND highs
A woven polyester film is used in 25mm dome with a high-loss coating to convey open and smooth extended high frequencies. The magnet system and the front plate have been enhanced for wide dispersion and uncompressed behaviour. The front plate is flat and exposes the dome as much as possible; There is very small duct on the front plate balances the acoustic loadin 12.4 diamond and improves the SPL (sound pressure level) measurement.
